The Chard Foundation was a charity working with young bands in rural Somerset with sponsors including “Youth Music” and “Somerset County Council”. I started working for them in 1999 when I did FOH for their outdoor festival and then joined their team of tutors on the “Girls Rock On Project” between 1999 and 2002

We did workshops throughout the year where I taught stage craft, along side other tutors doing instruments various, vocals, and composition.

Once the bands are ready, we did local gigs where I covered FOH, and then recorded an album at Baseline. We also toured the country, promoting their music and our project.

Once the bands had had a year or so of us, we started again with new bands. Some young women came back for a second bash at the cherry whilst others went on into the music industry with record deals.

Unfortunately the project has now ended as it was charity run and competition for funding finally caught up with it. I'm sure our paths will cross again, myself and the other tutors are still in regular contact, along with Angela the founder of Chard Foundation.
